Tell us about the site
Landscape is a landscape architecture studio in Portland, Oregon, working on parks, campuses, river restoration and stormwater across the United States. Email the studio, or send the site address and what it is doing wrong. We reply within two working days, and the first conversation is usually a walk.

New business
newwork@landscape.usRequests for proposal, public bids and teaming enquiries. Send the brief and the deadline and we will tell you honestly whether we are right for it.

Our studio sits on Portland’s east side, ten minutes from the Willamette and a short drive from most of the ground we are currently building.

Before you write
The four questions we are asked most often, answered the way we would answer them on the phone.
Anything from a quarter-acre plaza to a nine-acre commons. Below about a quarter acre we are usually the wrong studio, and we will tell you who is right instead.
Yes. We have current or completed work in Washington, Oregon, New York, Arizona and Minnesota. For work outside our home region we partner with a local ecologist so the plant palette is genuinely regional.
Schematic design to construction documents is usually four to seven months. Restoration work adds a survey season at the front. We then stay on for five years of establishment monitoring.
Design fees generally run eight to twelve percent of construction cost, scaling down on larger sites. We give a fixed fee after the first site visit, not before.

“They told us which parts of our brief were wrong before they told us what they would draw. That is worth more than a nice render.”
